 A Deep Dive Into Hybrid Cloud Adoption

In this tutorial, we will start with a quick introduction to what is a hybrid cloud, then we will  introduce why migrating to a cloud model, and leveraging cloud IaaS, PaaS and SaaS is going to reduce cost, shorten time-to-market, improve efficiency and speed of innovation. The tutorial will provide examples of enterprise business solutions within IBM cloud-based platform, BlueMix, that has adopted a hybrid cloud strategy utilizing Public Bluemix (Public Cloud), Dedicated Bluemix (Private Cloud) and APIm (for access to Systems of Record) to enable transformation of IBM.

In addition, the tutorial will dive into the concept of composable business approach utilizing micro-services architecture and how services from the hybrid cloud ecosystem are combined to rapidly create new business capabilities enabling IBM Business Partners to conduct business with IBM. Key elements that needs to be considered when designing for cloud, such as a portability across environments, explicit and isolated dependencies, etc.

Biography of the Presenter

Tamer Nassar is a senior software engineer in the office of the IBM CIO, and has been with IBM since 2000. He has been involved in many different projects, with a variety of technologies, designing, and implementing many end-to-end enterprise solutions. His areas of interest and expertise include SOA, IT architecture and methodology, Bluemix, Business agility, Business rules management, Analytics, and Multiple Websphere products. He has many patents in technology, and is an adjunct faculty at Fairleigh Dickinson University.
